Blockmounting has endured the test of time and remains the least expensive means of displaying your cherished photo, jigsaw puzzle or child's first finger painting. The best-known uses for blockmounting are posters and maps. We can blockmount any size image from A5 to A0+ (>2700mm x 1800mm). The most common wood used is (MDF) Medium Density Fibre Board, also called Supawood, with the edge painted black or any colour of your choice. Different thicknesses (3mm, 6mm, 9mm,12mm) Supawood (MDF) is used, depending on the size of the picture, map or document to be mounted. In essence we laminate your photo or poster with a high quality gloss or matte laminate and then mount it on any of the mounting materials. With our specially formulated glue we can blockmount most materials including pre-laminated, cardboard, glass and fabric. We can also mount on chipboard, corex plastic (light weight alternative but not very strong), ABS plastic (light weight alternative and stronger than corex), also Foamcore (soft spongy polystyrene type plastic on top of 6mm supawood) which is used to mostly mount maps on so pins can be pinned to the mounted map.
EDGING
FRAMING
A black plastic edging is used around the edge of a block-mounted item to give it a more finished look. The edging can be used on blockmounts of 6mm or 12mm.
We keep a small range of frames (aluminium, gold, silver and a wood finish) in stock and can frame a blockmounted item
